My not so perfect week and a few things I love!

A week has passed since my 20 year high school reunion. It was great to see old friends and see how different, yet exactly the same, everyone is!

(I’m in the front, second from the right. Hardly recognizable without my hair up and secured with a sweatband!)

The week prior to the reunion, the hubs and I were on our annual Minnesota vacation, and though I did manage to run 3 days that week, last week at home was a complete wash. I could not get back into the groove of getting up to an alarm clock to run or work out. And I ate like total crap.

We came home to a HUGE zucchini in the garden, which produced 5 zucchini nut breads! And just enough ripe raspberries to make a pie, which can not be consumed without ice cream, although I did manage to convince the hubs and we made the switch to frozen yogurt!

Exhibit A. Half a loaf GONE. Told you it was a bad week!

Exhibit B. That is not frozen yogurt.

Another gem from the garden we came home to was an overabundance of green beans! Now, I am a lover of all things dill, yet have never had a dilly bean. Ludacris, I know.  When I searched for recipes on Pinterest and saw how easy they were to make, I had to try!

Exhibit C. There were 2 more jars in the fridge.

Holy addicting! I managed to let the first jar sit the required 24 hours in the fridge before I opened it up and promptly devoured half of the beans! Note: Doing so may or may not cause one some gastric distress. You’ve heard the song about beans, no?

I did get one run in at least, thanks to my running second bestie, Nikki 🙂 We squeaked out 6 miles in just over an hour on Thursday night after work. And aside from 2 or 3 plank-a-days, that was the extent of the exercise. I will even admit to sneaking a few candies from the jar at work last week.

Spent the weekend with my two favorite grandbabies, and have at least 4, but hoping for 10, miles on the agenda for this evening when it cools off a bit (and I get the housework done)!

Tomorrow starts a new week and it’s time to get serious on this half marathon training! September 21st is knocking on my door! My plan is to run at least 4 miles 3 mornings a week with 2 days of strength training and a long run on the weekend from here on out! Wish me luck!

Here are a few new finds that I love and wanted to share with you all:

1. Sprout Organic Foods Sprout Smash

I love when I buy stuff like this and the hubs assumes it’s for the grand kids! Nope, that would be mine 🙂 And I have to say I am loving this brand more than Buddy Fruits! The cherry apple coconut milk smoothie has quinoa in it, can’t beat that!

2.Dr. Teals Epsom Salt Eucalyptus and Spearmint

I love a good Epsom salt bath, and this stuff smells AMAZING. This is also on tonights agenda, after said run.

3. Annie’s Homegrown Bunny Grahams

Yeah, no need to say any more. These are delish.

5. Amy’s Organic Soups Chunky Tomato Bisque

The BEST tomato soup EVER. And I’m a tomato soup snob.

6. PB 2 powdered peanut butter

I’m also a peanut butter snob, and I LOVE this!  I was a Jiff girl, and this is the only peanut butter so far that I can truly say compares in taste.

7. Carrington Farms Flax Chia blend

Flax/chia perfection. I add this to yogurt, smoothies, Shakeology, zucchini bread (shhhhh), PB2 on a rice cake, just about everything!

And last, but not least…

8. These beasts, husband included!

Here’s to a new week! Hope you all meet your goals!

Dilly beans? Love them or not so much?

Anyone else running a half marathon this summer/fall?

Squeezable fruit/veggies.. tell me I’m not the only one!
