What?! After the horrendous 17 miler a few weeks ago, I was seriously doubting myself. How could I run a MARATHON when I could hardly run 17 miles? Since that run, I’ve run 0 long runs, and maybe a handful of short runs.
I’ve had this run, THE RUN, in the back of my mind for weeks. And it’s been scaring the hell out of me. 20 miles? Who does that?
I remember watching clips of the Boston Marathon on the news years ago and saying to my husband, “Why would anyone want to run for 4 hours? Even 2 hours? Who does that?”
I guess I do that.
I did it! I so needed this. I was shooting for 3:45, but hell, I’ll take it! I feel completely confident that I will finish this Marathon!
So true. Yes, my legs were getting tired, my feet were getting sore, but I kept my head in the game and didn’t give up! Oh, I wanted to, but a few texts frim my running bestie and a call from the hubs along the way kept me going 🙂
It’s truly amazing how far a positive attitude will take you! If you keep telling yourself you got this, YOU WILL GET IT!
I also got to experience the dreaded ice bath. I can see a love/hate relationship forming here. Soo coold, but felt so good! 🛁
Now it’s compression sleeves, bad TV, and hard cider for the
next hour, if I make it that long rest of the night!
